Piet Hein Eek:
"So, for a family with 7 sons, we designed and produced not only the kitchen, utility room, cloakroom, wardrobe, information board and tables and chairs, but also 7 cabinets, 7 beds and 7 desks. No small order." — here
There was an outfielder on that team named Hank Thompson. Bobby Thomson was white and Hank Thompson was black. I asked my father if they were brothers. He laughed and said: “No. You know how you can tell they’re not brothers?”
I said I didn’t. He said, “Hank Thompson spells his last name t-h-o-m-p-s-o-n. Bobby Thomson doesn’t have a ‘p’ in his last name. If they were brothers they would spell their names the same.”
It was years before I realized what a terrific thing that was to say to a kid.

Making a Horse With Dad

I remember talking to him about my drawings and art. He preferred our abstract works to our realistic pictures and discouraged figuration, which is silly - children want to be able to draw things that look real. He wasn't very understanding of the little girl stuff: that's why you have a mother. But the best project we made with him was an amazing life-scale horse. Little girls love horses, and what could be better than making a realistic, life-size horse with your dad?" —Rebecca Smith on her father David Smith

Our Message Here...

After a long week in the Intensive Care Nursery, Astrid's coming home today! We will be having a Big/Little Sister party tonight with balloons, presents and Rice Krispie treat sushi (thanks Steph). Elsa will be able to see, touch and smell her little sister for the first time (no kids allowed in the ICN).
Stephen and Shauna made the sign as part of their Your Message Here project. Thanks!
If I blog it, she will come.
We're having a baby. I'll report back in a couple days.
